Good News! Families are receiving counseling, help in finding shelter, both in transitional and longer-term housing, and safe day-care for their children. As mentioned before, the apartments on Elm Street are full with 8 families with 13 children, ages 4 months to 17 years.
Thank you to all who have donated laundry soap, diapers, baby bottles, toilet paper, paper towels and dryer sheets. The needs continue so the contribution bin remains in the narthex for donations.
Another strong step forward: ground-breaking for the new residence facility on Water Street happened on Tuesday, September 5. This will help with the needs for single men and women who are in transition, making personal changes for a better fixture.
The 10 families on the waiting list for secure shelter are going through the process of preparation for greater independence and better life choices.
Making a difference for these people, their families and communities is a call to us from God to respond to the least of our brothers. More good news: we can do it!
