Link to formal position description Director of Youth Ministries Our Savior's Lutheran Church is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, mature in the faith of Jesus Christ team player who possesses a sense of humor, is resilient, and is a great role-model for youth. The ability to communicate and relate to youth easily is highly important. This candidate will need to possess the ability to capture young audiences and be willing to become invloved in youth activities at many levels. Numerous youth events are often scheduled through each season and good organizational skills as well as the ability to encourage participation is essential. Our Savior's is a member of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) with an average worship attendance of 425. This congregation is very committed to living the gospel locally and with our partner congregation in El Salvador, and partner ministry relationships with numerous church and other non-profit organizations. Our Savior's is home to the Our Savior's/YMCA childcare center which serves approximately 65 infants and preschoolers all day each weekday. Studies have shown that every young person needs to have at least five adults in their lives who are "Affirming, Authentic and Available" in order to thrive and grow into the mature, secure person that God created each one of them to be. Our Savior's is firmly committed to helping youth find "Triple-A Adults." Our Director of Youth Ministries is expected to be a AAA Adult, and to help facilitate these intergenerational relationships among youth and adults. The Director of Youth Ministries will have the opportunity to coordinate, administer and provide leadership to the youth of Our Savior's and to the many adult and parent leaders involved with the youth in ministry. Our youth program's mission and vision is based primarily on the spiritual development of our middle and high school youth through many activities including worship, outreach, learning and fellowship. Experience in each of these areias is highly desirable. The Director of Youth Ministries position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Youth Ministry; excellent relational skills with youth; a commitment to team ministry; the demonstration of a mature faith in Jesus Christ and a basic understanding and support for Lutheran Theology.
