Sunday, October 14 was the celebration of the Strong Baby Sanctuary program in Milwaukee that promotes and teaches about the urgent need to keep newborns and toddlers healthy and well-cared for during their first years of life.

In 2017, 100 babies died unnecessarily before their first birthday due factors of premature births, unsafe sleeping and parental neglect or abuse.

Mayor Tom Barret attended worship at Hephatha on Sunday to share his concern about this major problem in Milwaukee and to be part of the blessing of the Hephatha children and families.

Strong Baby Sanctuary at Hephatha Lutheran Church embraces pregnant women and their families and offers information and resources, mentorship and spiritual support to create stronger babies in the Milwaukee community.
